Routes – If you would like to add your favorite training routes to the TANYC website, email us the info.

If you are interested in volunteering for the TANYC Training Leaders Program (TLP), please contact bobcowin@cowin-tech.com. This isn't coaching, so no experience is necessary - just a willingness to lead a few people out to River Road, Nyack, Westchester, Piermont, etc. Leading rides on a weekly basis is not expected - but the more leaders we get, the more rides we can offer.

RUNNING ROUTES

Central Park has a variety of loops that provide variety on your run, including the Large Loop (6.1M), Reservoir Loop (1.58M), Bridal Path Loop around Reservoir (1.66M), and Lower Loop (1.7M).

Riverside Park offers a choice of paths, including the river path, the upper trail, and Riverside Dive itself. The 72nd Street to 120th Street route is approximately 4M. Heading a little north to 125th Street will reward you with a view of Grants Tomb.

BIKING ROUTES

New Paltz 'Margaretville' Approx. 120++ miles in/out, Hilly. Head out of New Paltz West on Rt. 299 (i.e. 'Main St') for about 5-6 miles until you hit Rt. 44/55 (shared) going West or North. Continue for 8-9 miles until Rt. 209 intersection, then take 209 North or East for 10 miles until you hit Rt. 213. Take Rt. 213 North or West for about 7 miles until Rt. 28A. Rt. 28A is one of the routes surrounding Ashokan Reservoir (the other is Rt. 28). Take 28A for 5-6 miles until it merges onto Rt. 28 going North Or West. Take Rt. 28 for about 20 miles and there you are in Margaretville. You've come approximately 60-65 miles and can turn around or continue on 28 for another 30-35 miles to Oneonta. You will be at approx. 90-100 miles here. On the return you can take the other side of Ashokan (Rt. 28).

New Paltz 'Liberty' Approx. 90++ miles, Rolling Hills. Head west out of New Paltz on Rt. 299 for about 5-6 miles until you hit Rt. 44/55. Take Rt. 44/55 West or North and keep on it until Rt. 44 ends. and continue on Rt. 55. Rt. 55 splits and becomes Rt. 55 AND Rt. 55 A after about 15 miles from Rt. 209. This means the Rt. 55 has an option for travel around another beautiful reservoir: Rondout reservoir. You can take either. After about 5 miles the two merge and become one Rt. 55 again. Continue on Rt. 55 for approx. 15 miles. You have come approx. 45 miles. You can continue on Rt. 55 (now south bound) for another 20 miles until you get to the Pa. border and their 'Pike County'. You are now at approx. 65 miles. On the return you can take the other side of Rondout (Rt. 55A or Rt. 55 depending on which you took going in)

New Paltz 'Middletown' Approx. 90++ miles, Flat. Head west out of New Paltz on Rt. 299 for about 5-6 miles until you hit Rt. 44/55. Head south on Rt. 44.55 for 3-4 miles and make a right onto County 9 West. Continue for 7-8 miles until the intersection of Rt. 52. Continue straight through the intersection as County 9 becomes County 14 West. Continue on County 14 for 7-8 miles into Montgomery and make a right towards Middletown onto Rt. 211. Stay on course for about 15 miles and you're in Middletown and time to turn around. You have come approximately 45 miles. If you want to add mileage and want to go to the gorgeous tri-border area (NY, NJ, Pa) at Port Jervis/Matamoras, continue onto Rt. 211 West (through Middletown) for about 8 miles until Rt. 209. Take Rt. 209 South for another 8 miles into Port Jervis. You're now at approx. 60 miles.
